How 710 Became a National Hash Holiday

Submitted by Marijuana News on Thu, 07/10/2014 - 15:18

What are Dabs? Fundamentally, “Dabs” are hash. Unlike traditional hashish, the term describes hash extracted with Butane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen, or Solventless. Thus, “Dabs” are a more potent form of hash that comes in varying forms. Like traditional hash, extract artists use techniques that ultimately pull out resin, trichomes, and THC, binding them together for a far more dense and potent substance than cannabis. Unlike hash, the “Dab” extraction process is a more thorough approach that maximizes the concentration of the THC present in cannabis.

Before we go in Dab-Depth, here's an Infographic that describes the basics of Dabs in visual form--and why 7/10 holds a special meaning for hash heads:

'For our love of dagga we go to court'

Submitted by Marijuana News on Fri, 07/04/2014 - 02:00

The "Dagga Couple" Myrtle Clarke and Jules Stobbs fight for legislation of recreational use. (Delwyn Verasamy)

The media dubbed them the “Dagga Couple”, but Myrtle Clarke and Jules Stobbs have made the name their own, proudly carrying on a campaign to have the recreational use of dagga legalised in South Africa.

Nomenclature is important to them. They’re not fighting for marijuana (“Americanism”, says Jules) or hemp (“industrial cannabis”) or medical marijuana (“it confuses the real value of the plant”) or dope (“a 1950s propaganda word”), but dagga, cannabis or zol (“good local names for a great local plant”).

Tasmania mooted as growing site for medicinal cannabis

Submitted by Marijuana News on Mon, 06/30/2014 - 03:21

The bid to legalise cannabis for medical use is gaining momentum, and Tasmania has been suggested as a growing site.

A cross-party delegation from New South Wales will be in Tasmania next week for a site visit and will meet the state Health Minister.

NSW MP Kevin Anderson, who is working on a private member's bill to legalise medicinal cannabis for the terminally ill in that state, will lead the delegation.

Tasman Health Cannabinoids, a private company, is proposing trials to grow medical cannabis after conducting extensive tests in partnership with the University of Tasmania.

Medicinal cannabis is being touted as a crop that would complement Tasmania's lucrative poppy harvest.

A MEDICAL alliance supporting the use of medicinal cannabis has received the backing of a Brighton MP.

Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion, will be one of the guest speakers at the United Patients Alliance launch night in Brighton.

Organiser of the event, Clark French, was diagnosed with MS in 2010.

Mr French revealed that since he has been taking cannabis, his pain, tremors and spasms have been reduced and he no longer has bladder problems.

He said: “It’s been absolutely life changing, I’ve gone from being bed-bound to walking. I’m not cured but my life is considerably better.”
