Sanders To Clinton: Without Marijuana, It's Not Criminal Justice Reform

NASHUA, N.H. — Criminal justice — an issue thrust into the Democratic primary fight by bipartisan legislative efforts in Washington and Black Lives Matter activists on the campaign trail — has emerged as one of the clearest divides between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in their quest for the presidency.

In short, Sanders says the racial disparities in the justice system cannot be remedied without ending the federal war on marijuana and banning the death penalty. Clinton is not ready to change federal law on marijuana and says the death penalty is an important tool in the belt of federal prosecutors.

Colorado asks voters to reshuffle spending of new pot taxes

DENVER (AP) — The only statewide ballot question in Colorado next week seems like a no-brainer: Should the state keep $66 million in marijuana taxes it has already collected to spend on schools and drug-abuse prevention?

The measure arose from an accounting error two years ago, when the taxes were first approved. And it has broad support, from Democrats, Republicans, the marijuana industry and nearly every newspaper in the state.

He Was A Conservative Anti-Pot Physician Until His Daughter Started Suffering From Seizures

We see a lot of stories come through about all the great things cannabis can do. But after seeing this video on the Marijuana Doctors Facebook page, it stopped us in our tracks. I cried for about five minutes after watching how this little girl's nightmare changed her Dad's mind about medical marijuana.

He's a physician, and admittedly very anti-cannabis. Things had gotten so bad, he was ready to let his daughter die rather than live a life of suffering. Left with no other medical alternatives, he turned to marijuana as a last ditch effort. If there's one story that captures all the emotion and power behind the marijuana legalization movement, it's this. Get your tissues ready...

Marijuana dispensary owner charged with trafficking; released on $1K bail

Mark Hauk, the 36-year-old owner of Saskatoon's unlicensed medical marijuana dispensary, has been charged with drug trafficking and released on $1,000 bail after appearing in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Friday morning.

Speaking with reporters after he emerged from court mid-day on Friday, Hauk called the Saskatoon Police Service "gutless" for the manner in which they handled his arrest and charges.

"The actions the Saskatoon Police Service took yesterday were nothing short of shameful and gutless," he said. "I have had two meetings with Chief Weighill over the last three weeks, which he has postponed on me."

A Saskatoon police spokeswoman could not confirm that was the case.

What you need to know before voting on legal marijuana

In this Tuesday, July 1, 2014, file photo, owner Bob Leeds inspects small "clone" marijuana plants growing under lights at Sea of Green Farms, a recreational pot grower and processor in Seattle. A ballot proposal before Ohio voters this fall would be the first in the Midwest to take marijuana use and sales from illegal to legal for both personal and medical use in a single vote. 8 good reasons to legalize cannabis

Cannabis prohibition is crumbling around the world.  That means cannabis has never been quite as legal as it is now.  Here are 8 good reasons why legalizing cannabis is good for everyone.

1. USA has shown cannabis tax revenues shouldn't be gifted to criminals.

The legal cannabis market is only just starting, no-one really knows how big it will get, but assuming cannabis would be legal across the USA the eventual industry (recreational & medical) could be worth $100 Billion+.  Europe would be roughly the same.    Your Government can no longer afford to give that money away to criminals.

8 Ways To Support Marijuana Reform That Cost Little To No Money

I get asked all of the time how people can support marijuana reform. Most of the time the question is being asked by someone who admits ahead of time that they don’t have money to donate, but that they still want to help. I know first hand what it’s like to be an activist with meager resources (cubicle warriors united!), but I don’t let that stop me from helping in other ways. Below are eight ways to help support reform that cost little to no money (just internet connection and stamps). If you think of other ways, by all means add them in the comments so that others can do them too:

National marijuana trafficking network busted in Operation Hagrid

RCMP in two provinces have seized more than $232,000 in cash, nearly 100 kilograms of marijuana and 14 vehicles after a huge drug bust following an extensive investigation.

Operation Hagrid was a five-month investigation targeting a suspected drug trafficking network between the Vancouver area and Eastern and Atlantic Canada including:

  • Toronto
  • Montreal
  • Halifax
  • St. John's

Investigators found that people were taking commercial flights and transporting large quantities of marijuana and cash in checked bags.

"These individuals had an established network operating a sophisticated drug distribution chain that has ties to organized crime," Nova Scotia RCMP Insp. Mike Payne in a news release.

Ireland: Decision looms for Government on legalising marijuana

Oireachtas committee on justice may recommend that Ireland follow the example of Portugal which 14 years ago decriminalised all drugs

Watching Bob Dylan at Slane, I found clinching evidence of the factual basis of the first line in Lenny Bruce’s autobiography, How To Talk Dirty And Influence People: “You wouldn’t believe how many people smoke marijuana.”
